Common questions

Pricing and Quotes

Is the quote really free?

Every time, no exceptions. Someone drives out, has a proper look and puts a number to it on the spot. Whether you say yes or not, that visit doesn't cost you a thing.

Do prices change once you start?

Only if we talk to you about it first. Old wiring behind a wall is the usual culprit for something turning up mid-job that nobody could have spotted beforehand. When that happens, we down tools and explain it, and the new figure needs your yes before we carry on.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

No, and there's nothing added for travel or admin either. Small job or big one, that stays the same.

What does "$50 off your first service" cover?

Straight off your invoice the first time you book with us, whatever the work. No minimum spend applies and there's nothing to claim or keep track of.

Common questions

Safety, Standards and Paperwork

What brands do you install?

We stick to gear built to last. Clipsal and Hager for switchgear, SAL and Beacon Lighting for fittings. None of it is the sort that dies in two years and needs replacing anyway.

Are you licensed and insured?

We hold NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C. Master Electricians Australia membership and full insurance cover sit behind every job we do in your home.

What is AS/NZS 3000?

This is the wiring standard that binds every licensed electrician in the country, us included. It governs cable ratings, how a circuit gets protected and how earthing is run. When we finish a job, this is what it's checked against, and it's what a Certificate of Compliance confirms.

Can I do my own electrical work in NSW?

No. There's a short list of very minor exceptions, and beyond that a licensed electrician has to carry out the work. Doing it yourself puts your safety at risk, can void your insurance, and can even hold up a house sale if unlicensed work shows up in a building report.

Common questions

How Fast We Get to You

How do I book?

Dial (02) 9538 7139 and a real person on our team answers, no queue involved. Describe the job and a time gets set there and then, most often before you've even hung up.

What happens after I call?

First a chat about the job, then a time gets set. Next we show up, look it over and put a figure on it face to face. Nothing gets started until you've given the nod.

How fast can you get here?

Standard bookings tend to land same or next day. A genuine emergency moves quicker still. Ring up and you'll get a real timeframe, never a vague window of "sometime this week".

How soon can you fit me in?

That comes down to how full the week already is, though same or next day is the norm. An honest answer beats a promise we might not keep.

Common questions

Working in and Around Leichhardt

Why do Leichhardt's older homes need switchboard upgrades?

A good number of the terraces here are still working off their original ceramic rewireable fuses. Plenty of those boards also missed out on RCD safety switches even when a renovation touched everything else around them. Getting the board up to modern protection is one of the more common jobs we do on this side of the inner west.

Do you work on heritage/strata properties?

Often. Wiring a heritage-listed terrace in Leichhardt means working around the fabric of the place, running cable without cutting into what makes it worth keeping. Strata blocks bring their own paperwork for the owners corporation, and that side of it is second nature to us too.

What suburbs do you service?

Alongside Leichhardt, we're regularly in Lilyfield, Annandale, Balmain, Haberfield, Rozelle and Petersham. Just outside that patch? Ring anyway, and we'll be upfront about whether it's within our run.

How local are you, really?

The Leichhardt run comes up most weeks for us. That kind of regularity means we know the terraces, the units and what sits between them, rather than turning up as strangers from across town. The van's usually already carrying the parts for the job too, instead of a fresh trip back to stock up.
